Have you ever heard a sermon about the beguiling of Eve? How many sermons have you heard about the weakness of the woman, the strength of the man, and how man was given rule over her because of that weakness. Have you heard that the right to make final all decisions was given to the man?  

I think you will find this opposing dissertation intriguing!

PLEASE, bear with the definitions of words. They are critical to getting the correct interpretations that will set you free!

Tertullian, a Christian theologian A.D.155-220 said

"Do you not know that you are [each] an Eve? The sentence of God on this sex of yours lives in this age; the guilt must of necessity live too. You are the Devil's gateway; You are the unsealer of that [forbidden] tree: you are the first deserter of the divine law; you are she who persuaded him whom the devil was not valiant enough to attack. On account of your desert— that is, death,—even the Son of God had to die."

That kind of reprehensible speech has damned woman since the fall of Adam and Eve.

Gen 2:16,17 "and the Lord God commanded the man saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shall not eat of it; for in the day thou eatest of it thou shall surely die." This command was given to Adam before Eve was created. Gen 3:1 "Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made, and He said to the woman, Yea, hath God said, ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?"

Serpent = snake, from a root word meaning to hiss, that is to whisper a magic spell, be enchanter, use enchantment.
Enchant = put a spell on, bewitch, power to charm completely, fascinate, irresistible allure, magic.
Subtle = cunning, crafty, ingenious and treacherous skill in deception, ingenious and treacherous stratagem or tricks.
Rev 12:3-4; Rom 16:20; II Cor 11:3,14. The serpent was the embodiment of Satan.

Gen 3:2,3-16 - Woman was aware of commandment. We have no record of God telling her that so the man must have told her.
Gen 3:4,5 - Satan tempts her.
Gen 3:6 - She took the fruit thereof and did eat and gave also to her husband with her; and he did eat". 

WHERE WAS ADAM WHEN SHE WAS TEMPTED?

I have nearly always heard that he was NOT with her,  she WENT to find him, or he happened  to come by afterward, and  she gave  him to eat. Scripture does not say that!! Key word "also" is misplaced.  Should read "she gave to her husband ALSO with her and they did eat"

Also = contraction of unused Hebrew word gam. Gam = gather in an assemblage, One cannot gather in an assemblage by oneself.
Gen 3:7,8 - Eyes of both opened simultaneously and both knew they were naked. They sewed leaves together to cover themselves. They hid from the Lord.
Gen 3:9,10 - God calls, Adam answers I was afraid, I was naked, I hid.
Gen 3:11 - God confronts Adam with the command. How do you know you are naked unless you ate of the tree I commanded you not to eat of.
Gen 3:12 - Adam shifts blame to God and to the woman. The woman you gave me, she gave it to me and I ate. He implies that he had no choice, he was forced to eat, or that he did not know where the fruit came from.
Gen 3:13 - God did not confront woman with the command. He did not condemn her for tempting Adam or for making a decision to eat without asking Adam. According to the Septuagint, there is a wrong translation of the question God asked her, It should be "Why have you done this" rather than "What have you done?" She answers truthfully, "The serpent beguiled me and I ate" By translating the question "What have you done" instead of "why have you done this" it makes it appear as though Eve was guilty of passing the blame on to someone else, just as Adam did.

Beguile = lead astray, mentally to delude or morally seduce, deceive greatly and utterly.
Utterly = thoroughly and entirely. Serpent, guile, beguile, craft, craftiness, cunning, deceive, bewitch are all connected. Many refer to creeping into or enveloping something in.
Creeping = insinuating oneself, onto or into, something.
Insinuating = to introduce by windings and turnings to get into or to push in indirectly and skillfully where something is not wanted. This is all witchcraft or enchantment, the whispering , muttering of a witch or sorcerer.
Bewitch = bringing evil on a person with false praise, mislead with an evil eye, so to charm. Evil eye means to mesmerize with a fixed gaze. All of this was used against Eve in the temptation. Satan used every power he had against her. I believe the temptation was almost as great as the temptation of Christ because Satan was after the whole world. Not only would he have dominion over all creation, he would steal God's most precious creation, humans, proving to himself he was stronger than God!!

HOW MANY SERMONS HAVE YOU HEARD THAT SAID EVE WAS WEAK AND ALLOWED HERSELF TO BE TEMPTED. HOW MANY OF THEM HAVE SAID IF SHE HAD CONSULTED ADAM, HER HEAD, THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED? HOW MANY HAVE SAID THAT IF SHE HAD NOT COME OUT FROM UNDER HER HUSBAND'S COVERING, SATAN WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ATTACK HER? HOW MANY SERMONS HAVE YOU HEARD THAT SAID ADAM WAS TOO STRONG TO BE TEMPTED, AND THAT SATAN CHOSE TO TEMPT EVE, BECAUSE SHE WAS THE WEAKER ONE?

 HAVE YOU EVER HEARD A SERMON ON THE BEGUILING OF EVE?

HAVE YOU COME FACE TO FACE WITH SATAN AND EVERY BIT OF POWER HE HAS? DO YOU THINK THAT WAS NORMAL TEMPTATION LIKE WE ALL FACE? EVE WAS A VICTIM OF THE MOST DECEITFUL, CUNNING, POWERFUL CREATURE EVER CREATED. BECAUSE GOD KNEW THE POWER HE HIMSELF HAD GIVEN TO SATAN, HE UNDERSTOOD WHAT EVE HAD FACED. HE ACCEPTED HER ANSWER. MAN HAS NO CONCEPT OF HOW STRONG THAT BEGUILING WAS, THEREFORE HE HAS CONDEMNED WOMAN EVER SINCE. HE BRANDED THE WOMAN INFERIOR IN MIND AND SPIRIT, TOO WEAK, UNSTABLE, AND INCOMPETENT TO MAKE A DECISION ON HER OWN. HE SAYS MAN IS SO MUCH MORE SUPERIOR HE IS THE ONLY ONE COMPETENT ENOUGH TO  BE  THE  BOSS  AND  MAKE  DECISIONS.

MAJOR QUESTION, WHO IS STRONGER IN CHARACTER, ONE WHO IS HAS TO BE VICTIMIZED BY DECEPTION AND WITCHCRAFT BEFORE THEY WILL SIN OR ONE WHO SINS WILLINGLY WITHOUT BEING DECEIVED? (I TIM.2:4 SAYS ADAM WAS NOT DECEIVED).

The woman's mind was befuddled; she sinned not of her free will but by Satan's powerful bewitching. She was victimized, tricked into sin. The man's mind was not befuddled, he was not victimized, he chose to sin in his own free will. The woman did not force the man to eat, he took it and ate of his own accord.

SATAN STARTED HIS GENDER WAR WHEN ADAM SHIFTED BLAME FOR HIS ACTION OF EATING THE FORBIDDEN FRUIT. THE FOCUS OF THIS EVENT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON HOW WEAK, AND EVEN EVIL, THE WOMAN WAS RATHER THAN ON WHO PERPETRATED THE FALL. WOMAN BECAME THE SCAPEGOAT, THE EVIL ONE, INSTEAD OF SATAN. IN SPITE OF CHRIST'S ATONING FOR SIN, WOMAN IS STILL THE SCAPEGOAT FOR EVERY WRONG THING IN SOCIETY.

It seems even the atoning blood of Jesus is not enough in man's opinion to forgive her sin. Man holds her in relentless unforgiveness and condemnation.

Consequences

Gen.3:14 "And the Lord God said unto the serpent Because you have done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field, upon thy belly shalt you go and dust shall thou eat all the days of thy life." God cursed the serpent. God held him fully accountable for his sin, when he said because you have done this. Meaning it was done willfully.
Gen 3:15 "And I shall put enmity between thee and the woman and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." God is speaking to Satan here.  He did not curse Satan! Most popular focus is always that this is the first prophetic promise of a Messiah who will be bruised by Satan but who will crush Satan. There will be enmity between the Woman and Satan until Christ puts all things under his feet.
Enmity = hostility and hatred.

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD A SERMON ABOUT THE ENMITY BETWEEN THE WOMAN AND SATAN? I NEVER HAVE IN ALL MY 37 YEARS OF BEING A CHRISTIAN. THE WONDERFUL PROPHETIC PROMISE OVERSHADOWED THAT IMPORTANT PART OF THE VERSE. I WAS OBLIVIOUS TO IT UNTIL A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. GOD PUT THE ENMITY THERE! ENMITY IS HOSTILITY AND HATRED FOR EACH OTHER. SATAN HAS AN AGENDA AGAINST WOMEN. WOMEN SHOULD HAVE AN AGENDA AGAINST SATAN, BUT SO FAR, WOMAN HAS NOT TAKEN UP THE BATTLE AGAINST HER ENEMY. HIS HATRED AND HOSTILITY TOWARD HER IS BECAUSE AFTER DECEIVING HER, GOD SAID THE ONE WHO WOULD CRUSH HIM WOULD COME THROUGH HER ALONE. HE WOULD HAVE TO GET RID OF THIS WOMAN BEFORE THAT COULD HAPPEN!. HE HAD DECEIVED WOMAN, BUT THE WOMAN'S OFFSPRING WOULD EVENTUALLY DESTROY HIM. THAT ENMITY IS THE REASON WHY THE GENDER WAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN SO FIERCE AND WHY IT IS THE STRONGEST AND MOST RESISTANT OF ALL STRONGHOLDS THAT GOD HAS TO TEAR DOWN. IT IS WHY THERE IS GREAT OPPOSITION TO THIS TEACHING. IT IS COMING DIRECTLY AGAINST SATAN HIMSELF, WOMAN'S GREATEST ENEMY. IT IS UNCOVERING THE DEVIL'S BEST-KEPT SECRET AND SCHEME. IT HAS KEPT WOMAN FROM DOING THE WORK OF GOD ALL THESE MILLENNIUMS. SATAN KNOWS THAT ONCE WOMAN IS RELEASED FROM THE BONDAGE HE HAS IMPOSED ON HER THROUGH MEN, SHE WILL BE HIS MOST POWERFUL ENEMY. SHE WILL FIGHT HIM HARDER THAN ANYONE. HE DOES NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN. HE HAS USED THE PRIDE HE INFECTED MEN WITH AT THE FALL TO CAUSE THEM TO MISINTERPRET THE WORD OF GOD TO KEEP WOMEN BOUND. GOD IS SAYING IT IS TIME TO COME OUT OF THE TOMBS OF SILENCE. HE IS SAYING "LOOSE MY WOMEN AND LET THEM GO!!

Gen 3:16 "unto the woman he said, I will multiply thy sorrow and thy conception in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be for thy husband and he shall rule over thee." Nobody debates the first part of the verse about pain and childbirth. Man never says God spoke that to him. Some say the desire the woman would have would be a sexual craving for pregnancy in spite of the pain. That is not true. Desire is the wrong word, according to the Septuagint, it should be translated as turning. The Word turn is used the same way in Lev 19:4.

Desire = turning = turn to idols, turn to face, go away, turn aside, turn away. What God was saying is that now that the woman had knowledge of evil, she would experience it. She would turn away from God as her source of everything and turn to her husband instead. Her husband would become the idol she served. "And he shall rule over you." Satan gave man the distorted view of this verse to start the gender war.

Rule = mashal = make to have dominion, CAUSE to rule, CAUSE to have power over. Notice this word is different from the word for dominion that God said humans have over other living creatures. That word meant to subjugate, to prevail against and to reign over. It is different from subdue the earth. That meant to conquer, violate, bring into bondage, keep under and bring into subjection.

GEN 3:16 should read, "Your turning will be to your husband and that will cause him to have power to reign over you" This was a prophetic warning to the woman.

GOD WAS NOT SPEAKING TO THE MAN, HE WAS SPEAKING TO THE WOMAN ONLY. THIS HAS BEEN CLAIMED BY MEN FOREVER AS AN IMPERATIVE COMMAND BY GOD, TO MAN, TO RULE OVER THE WOMAN AND FOR THE WOMAN TO BOW TO THAT RULE. THEY SAY GOD CURSED EVE WITH THIS BECAUSE OF HER WEAKNESS OF ALLOWING HERSELF TO BE BEGUILED BY SATAN, AND BECAUSE OF HER SIN OF CONTROLLING ADAM INSTEAD OF COMING UNDER HIS AUTHORITY AND SO CAUSING HIM TO EAT AND FALL.

THIS IS HER PUNISHMENT FOREVER. THEY CLAIM GOD GAVE MAN THE RIGHT TO RULE OVER THE WOMAN. HOWEVER, I HAVE NEVER HEARD A MAN CLAIM THE REST OF THAT VERSE. THEY DO NOT CLAIM THE PAIN OF CHILDBIRTH AS THEIR RIGHT. SO HOW CAN THEY CLAIM THE REST OF IT? THEY CANNOT! NO ONE EVER CLAIMS WHAT GOD SAID TO THE SERPENT WAS MEANT FOR ANYONE BUT THE SERPENT. NO ONE EVER CLAIMS THAT WHAT GOD SAID TO SATAN WAS FOR ANYONE BUT SATAN, NO ONE EVER SAYS WHAT GOD SAID TO THE MAN WAS MEANT FOR THE WOMAN OR THE SERPENT. SO WHY DOES MAN CLAIM WHAT WAS SAID TO THE WOMAN WAS AN IMPERATIVE COMMAND TO THE MAN?

God did not curse Eve. WOMAN, GOD DID NOT CURSE YOU. Dominion of man over woman came into the world, but not by God's decree or command. It came because of evil pride in men's hearts and the evil turning away from God to man in the woman's heart.
Gen 3:17 "And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree of which I commanded you saying, Thou shalt not eat of it, cursed is the ground for your sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of your life. Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee. And thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground for out it wast thou taken; for dust thou art and unto dust shalt return."

Hearkened = give audience to with the idea of stillness or quietness, hear intelligently. Other interesting meanings, call together, consent, witness.   
Voice  = to call aloud, voice or sound, can be loud bleating, cackling or light, lowing noise, also hold peace, proclamation, sing, yell.

We have one verse that says, "She gave to her husband also with her and they did eat." There is no Scripture that says Adam was elsewhere and Eve had to go find him to give him the fruit, and no Scripture says Adam came upon the scene later. There is no record that she spoke to him directly, or what she said to coax, coheres, or convince him to eat. Because of a lack of Scripture and from a combination of those meanings, I believe that Adam was close to Eve at the time of the temptation. He hearkened or heard his wife's voice when she spoke with the serpent. He stood in still quietness like an audience watching a scene in a play. He understood everything with his intelligence. He knew exactly what was happening. He did not utter a sound of warning or anything. By his silence he was consenting to what he was listening to. He was not deceived by what Satan was saying as she was. I believe all she had to do was hand him the fruit, he took it and he ate it immediately after she did and both their eyes were opened to their nakedness.

God said to Adam, "because you have hearkened to the voice of your wife," God did not accept the blame Adam shifted to Eve. God was holding Adam accountable for his willingness to sin. He again confronts Adam with the command. (He did neither of those to Eve.) God does not curse Adam. He cursed the ground. God proclaimed that man would work the ground hard to make a living. He also proclaimed that man would now know a physical death as well as being separated from God through sin in a spiritual death. Eve would have multiplied sorrow in bringing forth children, meaning there would have been some pain before but now it would be greater. Now she would turn away from God to her husband, her biological source, and he would dominate her.

Adam would have sorrow in making the ground produce. Before, working in the garden was a pleasure. Now it would be hard. Now the ground was cursed and would produce thorns and thistles. Now he would turn away from God to earth, his biological source, and be consumed with making it produce food.

Conclusion

There is NO headship in Gen 3:16 "He shall rule over you" was not an imperative command to the man to rule over the woman and it was not a command for the woman to submit that rule. It was a warning to the woman that she would turn away from God as her source of everything, to the man and that would give him the opportunity to dominate her. NO HEADSHIP WAS EVER GIVEN TO MAN. God warned how the consequences for sin would affect each individual. The consequences that Eve would suffer, "he shall rule over you" was a bad thing.

SO, HOW IS IT THAT  BAD CONSEQUENCE BECAME THE GOLD STANDARD FOR HOW A CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE SHOULD FUNCTION?

What God declared to be AN EVIL CONSEQUENCE BECAME A GOOD THING IN THE EYES OF MAN. HOW CAN THAT BE? Right then is when Satan commenced the war of the genders by causing man to misinterpret the Word.
